we bring him into the garage if it gets below freezing, but otherwise he stays outside all day



IMO dogs don't want to be inside, as long as you go out and show them attention

Mine stays outside, we used to drag her in when it got real cold, and i mean drag, finally just put an electric blanket in her house.

Some dogs get conditioned to prefer the inside

I had a dog that only went out to pee or shite. Otherwise she parked by the easy chair and couldn't be moved with less than an army division.

FALSE. I have to bribe my great dane to come out of the house unless he has to pee/poop. He'd rather be curled up on the couch 23/24 hours of the day
