I don't feel like we've really competed for it much in 12,13, or now in 14. Guess we will see next year.

It's just kind of hard to define competing. This year we still had an outside chance going into November, and we see how that worked out. In 2012, we had a shot until we lost to Bama in November.

Last year we were out of it after the ole miss, and Bama sealed it. My expectation is met when we are still in it with two games left. Is that too little? Who knows

It's not that hard. If you're out of it the first weekend in November, as we were in 2012, you didn't compete. If you're out of it before November, as we were in 2013, you didn't compete. If you're out of it after the first two SEC games, as we were this year, you didn't compete.

If you don't go into the last two games of SEC play with a solid, realistic chance to win the division, you didn't compete. We haven't done that since 2011, and have only done it that once since 2007.

Exactly. And that has happened ONCE in the last seven years. It is inexcusable for LSU not to compete for the SEC West title more than once in seven years. Give us any coach in the SEC West during that span (with the possible exception of John L. Smith or maybe Orgeron), and I'll bet we compete for the title more than once in those seven years.
