I don't know why it was so hard for me to understand the "betting against the public" strategy up until I read this article that basically said "If the house always wins, don't you want to be on the house side?" Thus, being on the side opposite the public, especially large differences like 75/25 and bigger, would be "betting against the public"



Like I said, I am new to this betting thing, but I have had a decent year so far betting for teams I never thought I would have.

It's more complex than that but the general idea is, "what factors would contribute to a line staying put with a large percentage of wagers on one side?"

The two easy ones are large money on the small side or the book is happy taking a position.
