College sports is a billion dollar industry. Fans tangle their self worth with the performance if teenagers playing a game. ESPN and CBS Sports invest millions of dollars in a kud's game because fans show up to hundred thousand seat stadiums every Saturday. Merchandise and television rights all hanging on the arm if young kids like Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris.
More time and effort is spent talking about the College Playoffs than is used discussing how to help these college athletes invest their money once the leave college.
Fans can be obsessed about college and professional sports. But winning is never enough. Despite the jealous nature of many fans, winning a national championship is not enough. We got to win again and again. God forbid LSU wins six NC's in baseball and then loses in a regional. Addictive fans will harm other fans over a game. Winning spoils the fan base and can cause unrealistic expectations. There is an underlying sadness for those who despair over a game. Heroes are not Joe Carter or Warren Morris. Heroes are those who give service for others and fight for the freedoms we take for granted.
