You should listen to Nurse. Even though she doesn't have any kids as has only been married for 2 years, she knows a lot about a lot.

He is just making it sound like 2 years is such a long time. That he has to make it work because he has invested a whole 2 years of his life in this relationship. In the grand scheme of things...it's just a blip.
