Hah. There's actually a raging battle on the Stereogum comments section about the amount of love they (and pitchfork) are giving Taylor Swift's new album.
It's actually turning into a pretty good discussion about the place of "indie/hipster" music blogs in selecting the music they choose to review or promote. I mean do we or Taylor Swift really NEED a supposed independent music blog promoting her when the mainstream is doing a remarkable job? The opposite viewpoint being that not giving copy space to someone like Taylor Swift ignores a very important album this year that IS of high quality.
Anyway, in at least half of the "hipster" music world it's actually cool to like stuff like Taylor Swift right now.
Heres the 'Gum premature evaluation of the album. The comments section has the raging debate:

yep. it's right up there with dark side of the moon and sgt pepper.
but yeah, I think stereogum has jumped the shark a bit promoting taylor swift. it's like it's super edgy to like radio pop now or something.
