I seriously doubt that its authentic Kobe beef. Only a very small amount of real Kobe beef is imported to the US and that's only been since 2013 I think

It's at a place that specializes in burgers (range from $13-25) and is consistently ranked with the top burgers in the 3rd biggest city in the country. I don't find it too much of a stretch

It's probably "American Kobe" which is the same breed of cattle as the Japanese form but still not from the Japanese production style. American Kobe is half the price of real Japanese Kobe.
