And they went 8-5 (3-5) last year. Midway through the season the youth excuse isn't as relevant, but well we are just now getting to that point.

Ole Miss and Auburn both were running out of scholarship players a couple of years ago and now are at or near the top of the SEC.

LSU theoretically has had a recruiting advantage over Ole Miss in the past and should develop young talent every year so you don't have inexperienced guys having to step in and play. When the old talent leaves, someone prepared steps in. I'd say our recruiting rankings have been very overrated in the past or the staff just can't develop the talent.

It's not the kids, it's the coach. Lsu recruits premium players at every position on offense and most years delivers what we are seeing this year.

more of a case of attrition catching up to them. The change in recruiting tactics by several of the top teams to insure you're signing 25 guys every year, on top of the NFL early exits, has put the team behind the 8-ball. That's one reason I'm glad we're seeing Godchaux, Clark, Adams and others getting time now, vs. juniors who haven't played as much. Experience is the biggest factor in having success.
