you're missing a way bigger point. this isn't just about ISIS (who, by the way will kill you and me and everyone else who doesn't agree with every bit of their own beliefs).

it's about all those who sympathize with them; all extremists that pose a threat or potential threat. And yes, ISIS is a potential threat, not just to the US but also globally.

remember, they were beheading our citizens long before we started air strikes targeting them. So you could certainly say that a goal of theirs is to decimate our way of thinking and way of life. Another way of saying this is that they do, in fact, want to attack the US.
