When I was about 10 we went to my great aunt and uncles down in Lake Jackson, TX. My cousins and I just got off the trampoline and were walking to the front yard when my cousin Zack stops dead in his tracks and grabs my other cousin Jordy who was about to drop his foot. I was in front of them and looked back wondering what the sudden jolt was. Zack is stairing at the ground but calmly says "Go get pop or my dad. And a shovel. There is a coral snake right there." I told him he was full of bull until I looked down and noticed the red on yellow pattern. I ran off, grabbed Zacks dad, who got the shovel and hacked its head off. Was about 2 1/2 foot long, which is big for a coral snake. Jordy was about to step on the snakes head. I apparently stepped over it without a clue.
