Yes it is per square mile. I think I read 1 deer every 10 acres of woods.

I just don't understand that.

I go to west Texas and see hundreds every time I drive the property. 2000 total acres in Texas.

I go to MS and see 10 when I drive the property. 1680 total acres in MS.
