It's called politics. Why else is he risking his brand on someone like McConnell in Kentucky? He is expanding his credibility and influence across the party. I don't want him to be a strict libertarian with no real national security strategy. I know many people don't want America on the world stage influencing events but that's what a good president does.
Obama is a reactionary president on foreign policy. Then we almost dropped bombs on Assad which would have only helped ISIS. Sunni extremism is the real threat.
