We booked a room at the Main Stay Suites Reliant/Med Center months ago. Is this area seedy-recommend changing locations? Thanks!

Hi mdboss. It's not that that is a terrible area, but I would definitely recommend switching locations. The reason is that that location is not conducive to being a part of the pre-game festivities.

Your best bet would be to find somewhere downtown to stay. The Doubletree normally has great rates and is only a few blocks from the rail line.

Think of Houston like a Big corridor with 3 rooms. One on the north side (Downtown), one in the middle (Midtown), one on the south side (Reliant). The train runs directly from the north room, through the middle of the middle room, all the way to the south room.

Downtown is the north side. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, things to do. There will be a large contingency of LSU fans staying downtown and there are also many events. When you really want to go out and start partying, you can hop right on the rail line for $1.25 and shoot down a few stops to midtown where there are an infinite number of bars and it will surely be jam packed for the weekend.

The last stop on the train is Reliant, and while the stadium is nice, the surrounding area is mostly just apartments and some sketchy shops and industrial stuff.

If i were you, I would cancel and move to downtown to a hotel closer to the bars (The doubletree is a bit removed but is a decent rate). There are plenty of other hotels that will have availability. I would also recommend checking out the Hilton Americas. Great propery.
