Do you have zero clue of how marketing works? It's not that people don't want to donate, they simply aren't compelled to because it's not on their mind. Doing "stupid arse shite like this" makes people aware of it, therefore they donate.

It's basic principles of marketing. The same goes for any business. You can't just start a foundation and expect people to donate out of the blue. You need to inform people and compel them to donate. By the looks of it this is a pretty good way to do so.
