It's not so much what UCLA has done that irks USC fans (because hey, not much) - it's that if they do anything slightly good, LA media treats them as suddenly great or the Kings of the town.

They upset USC ONCE out of SEVEN years in a row of losing to USC and suddenly in 2007 - LA is a UCLA town and they own the city. Well that didn't last long, as USC came back to route them 50-0 in 2011.

The LA media can't wait to crown them champs or more relevant than they really are...the are the Notre Dame of the West Coast...media exaggerating what they accomplish (almost nothing)

"When it comes to college football, Los Angeles clearly belongs to the Bruins. This is a Bruin football town, and has been a Bruin football town, and will continue to be a Bruin football town " - Bill Plaschke (2001)

Right before USC went on to win 7 straight Pac-10 titles.

And once again the LA (and now national media) is hopping on the Bruins wagon because they showed signs of not sucking last year (finishing 6-3 in the Pac-12 last year) - that's a down year for USC but a back to glory year for UCLA.

But now with Hundley returning, Plaschke proclaimed them National Champ favorites and kings of LA again...despite, even as he admits:

"This is a program that hasn't won a national title in 59 years, hasn't won a Rose Bowl in 28 years, and hasn't been close to any sort of title game since the Bruins were stunned in Miami in the final regular-season game of 1998, a loss that kept them out of the first BCS championship game."

But yeah, the Bruins own LA, are the favorites, the love-fest continues for such a mediocre program...and now the over-hyped, quite amusing love-fest has gone national.
