True, but nearly everything in the movie is taken from the Bible and simply expounded upon. There are some points in the film that are clearly not in the Bible, but frankly, that's a good thing. The story is about the characters and family, not about staying true to a Biblical retelling of a flood in ancient Mesopotamia.
