But LSU is in it and doing an excellent job recruiting him.

Sounds great. Can you help me understand how a team does an excellent job of recruiting a player vs the opposite during the pre-commitment stage?

Is this according to the recruit himself or do the coaches leak just how often they are visiting and contacting?

Is it judged by amount of contact or strictly what the recruits says about their recruitment of him?

Eta. Also, what prevents a school from doing a good job of recruiting a target?

staying on top of him and hitting him from every angle possible; i.e. coaches, family, friends, other influential people.

Coaches leak what they want. You'll never hear a coach leak (on the record) that they backed off a kid. We are all fed the information the staff wants us fed. This leaves a lot open for interpretation sometimes.

Resources and coaches desire and imagination when it comes to recruiting.
