Adoption is a great thing to do. Pretty much saving a dog's life in some cases.
I've adopted twice and turned out well for both. One was a German and the most recent was a Lab... I don't regret neither.
Now if you are going to adopt, Don't just pick any breed because it looks nice or has a Sad backstory.
When adopting you should know what you're looking for in a dog & what you must do to keep up with it. Once it's home it's pretty much like another child in the household. Mine definitely are.
Will the dog live inside or outside?
Looking for a puppy or a older dog?
Have any kids or company around often?
Those are few questions you should answer before adopting and probably impact your choice of dog you want.
Please, I repeat please, don't get a dog you won't be able to control, or a dog that only you can control and no one else in the household can. Good luck with whatever you choose. Don't be the guy we read about on TD that adopted a pit, it attacked someone and says "it was a good dog, never had any problems." We get enough of that

no worries about adopting a pit. Apartment won't allow aggressive breeds. Ideally I'd like a 6 month or older border collie that I can train to get me beer from the fridge.
