that car is about 1/3 of his entire year's paycheck after taxes. so yeah, pretty stupid purchase. but it's his money, not mine

There are several cars between 70-120k that are nice. I think anything over 120,000 is absurd unless you're pulling over 3 mill per year.

Wut? People buy $30,000 cars all the time that make less than 6 figures and seem to make it work.

How much did your car cost?

Since it is not likely he paid cash for the car, it is no different than someone making over 100K per year (much more than most TD posters), buying an F150. My first thought was how much is insurance for a young male driving that car?

well if he cant live comfortably on the 2/3's he has left then something is wrong...he is a 21 or 22 year old maybe even 20 let the kid live his dream...he will be ok with the money he has left

if he bought a prius then everybody would be saying how he shoulda bought something nice for himself...its easy to spend other peoples money..but when they spend it...people get jealous on the fact of what they spend it on...funny how that goes

So if I make $50k annually, and bought a $25k car I would be stupid? That car would be over 50% of my annual income after taxes. Last time I checked that was a pretty reasonable purchase in most situations.
