Had a double blowout today about 40 miles apart. Tires were in average condition and temp was 91F. Could the heat alone have caused this?

I was running 65mph on the interstate. I took it to an RV center to go ahead and change all 4 tires as a safe measure. Also I wasn't overloaded.

Thoughts? Advice?

Make sure the tires are properly inflated! And don't pull the trailer at 65mph! Repeat! Don't pull at 65mph! Leave a little earlier!

How old were the tires? Was the blowouts on the same side?

Make and model of the camper? If it's a early- to-mid 2000's (early) model Puma, they have issues with blowouts. When originally built, they put undersized axles on the trailers, causing the wheel alignment to go all wonky. This resulted in rapid, excessive wear on the tires...and a lot of blowouts. Puma was for a long time covering complete axle and tire replacement under warranty, but I don't know if they still do this since I've been out of the RV business since late 2009. In the '04-'06 time frame we did complete axle replacements on a lot of Pumas, many of which had had multiple blowouts within short periods. They had the problem figured out and fixed in the '06 and later models.

Even if your trailer isn't a Puma, keep a close eye on the tire wear. If you're seeing uneven wear, you may need to get new axles. I'd also recommend staying away from Carlisle tires for your trailer, they seem to have more problems than other brands.
