quote:

bullshite, you may be supplementing practical comprehension with those things you are mentioning, but classical literature is not being removed from the classrooms.

Like I said, you really don't know what you are defending
quote:

The new standards, which took effect this school year, call for students in lower grades to read 50 percent fiction and 50 percent nonfiction. Those nonfiction texts, supporters argue, will be more appealing to boys who have read mostly fiction in their elementary classrooms.

By the time students hit their senior year in high school, the standards call for about 70 percent of their reading to be nonfiction.

5) Common Cores own advocates admit that their standards will leave graduates a year behind students from other countries
quote:

The CCSS and Singapore Mathematics Syllabus describe similar levels of rigor. Where grade placement discrepancies occur between the two documents, they are usually within one year of each other.

Instead of saying that the Common Core is intended to replicate the standards of other countries, the website for the Common Core uses language that says the standards are “informed” by or have “consulted” international standards.

6) And I can promise you that the feds are laying low right now. Their real intent is to allow the English and Math standards to become integrated, and to tie those in with substantial funds.

Then they will play a huge role in introducing the Science and Social Studies standards. Which is where the instrusion will begin
