you are just making stuff up. In his LSU career, Drew Alleman was 0/4 from FGs of 50+ yards. If the line of scrimmage is the 33 yard line, that would make it a 50 yard field goal attempt.

That is why I didn't use it as a definitive statement. Do you think he had a better shot at hitting that field goal or converting the 4th and 12 against arguably the best defense in the country? Why did we attempt a longer field goal on the following drive when it was a manageable down (4th and 4) if Les didn't think he had the leg. The youtube video has it as a 47 yard attempt. If Copeland doesn't make the worst play of his career, we score a TD there too.

Not only that, Bama was expecting it and came out in Safe coverage with outside ends and safeties set up outside. Gotta take a timeout there.

LINK - even the announcers call it out. They pinned us inside the 9 there when we could have tried to pin them inside the 10 and get great field position the next drive or attempt to put another 3 on the board.

So your comment that trying a fake field goal, as opposed to attempting a 50 yard FG with a kicker that NEVER once made a FG in his entire career that was 50+ yards, against Bama cost us winning a National Championship is really stupid.

If he didn't have the leg, we should have played the field position game. Alabama scored a TD on that possession despite getting the ball with 1:08 left.

Where did I say it was JUST the fake field goal either? I believe I listed several other plays. All the plays had a negative impact on the game for LSU

The coaching staff shot themselves in the foot that game, because they put together a near perfect game plan, prepared the team, and just let it slip away.

You did use a definitive statement when you said it cost us the National Championship.

We didn't have much of a shot at either apparently since he was 0/4 from that distance in his career.

Must be nice to look back on everything in hind sight. I doubt that Les thought that situation would creep right back up and it is pretty tough to attempt a fake field goal on consecutive offensive possessions now isn't it?

He didn't have the leg. The attempt before the half was no where in the vicinity of making it through the uprights. If you want to say that was a stupid call fine, but the other one didn't cost us a National Championship. Really didn't even slightly contribute.

You listed that and the generic taking the ball out of Mett's hands. I never said it was the only thing you said. I said that saying that fake FG in any way cost the National Championship is just dumb. It was all a good try though.
