It's like a box of chocolates

What size range are you looking for? You can find a used one on craigslist or in an ad, try to get the seller to let you bring it to a mechanic shop to check it out before you buy.

I am trying to get one around 115 hp. Considering ones between 100 and 140.

The transom (in good shape) is rated for up to a 140 hp.

I found a few on Craigslist and one is listed by an outboard repair shop in Abita Springs that says it was just "completely and professionally" rebuilt.

I plan on doing a compression test on the cylinders before agreeing to anything. Any marine mechanics you recommend?
