It was what was needed at the time. That said, it became unneeded when Huey's hunger for power got too far out of hand. We got some good things out of Huey, but he also had a very dark side and would have turned the presidency into a dictatorship if he had lived to run and be elected. If that would have happened, one would have hoped that congress would have had to balls to impeach him. You certainly would not have wanted him in the presidency going into WWII - it would have been a disaster.
