Braves fans: Would getting a leadoff hitter help this team tremendously?

I know the Braves are doing well now, but it is concerning that our first 2 batters are batting .170.
To succeed in post season play, you need guys who can get on base to pressure the other team's ace. YOu also need an ace of your own, but the Braves will have to make do.
Any chance the Yanks would be willing to part with Ichiro since he's sitting behind Gardner, Beltran, and Ellsbury now? I know Ichiro isn't even half of what he used to be, but he's still a lot better option at lead off than Schafer, BJ, or Heyward. Plus, him batting leadoff would allow Heyward to slide into the 2 spot which is so much better suited for him. Should also give Freeman and Upton a much better chance to drive in runs.

You probably hate Dan Uggla don't you

Yes because a 40 something year old Ichiro would start over Jason Heyward.. Do you even think of this stuff before you post?

Keep JHey 1st and bat Simmons second

No. I like Uggla for what he is. However, I don't like his pay.

No, dumbass. He would start over BJ or Schafer.
LF- Jupton
CF- Heyward
RF- Ichiro

I don't mind Heyward in the 1 spot, I just think he hits much better from the 2 hole.
Simmons for whatever reason slumps in the 2 hole and hits great down in the lineup at 7 or 8. not sure of the stats there, but it has been noticed by many before.

So now you want to bench our top paid player for a 40 something year old. Just stop posting, seriously. It's not like Ichiro is some other worldly player. He's not the same Ichiro that was in Seattle.

Would be a terrible idea to bench Justin. He's been ripping it lately.

BJ gets paid more than Justin

I know he isn't an all star player anymore. I could give a shite if BJ is our top paid player. He sucks. He doesn't add value. Ichiro had the worst season of his career last year, and still provided a whole win more than BJ provided last year and is projected by some sites to have a better season this year than BJ. Plus, he profiles as a leadoff, which is something that no other hitter on this team is.

Just to clairfy, I'm not saying give up a king's ransom for him. I'm saying if the Yanks are willing to part with him for something, then maybe we should do it and send Schafer down.
BJ on the bench would provide pop and platoon well with Ichiro at times IMO.
If the Yanks are willing to dump him for Cody Martin or J.R. Graham, I say it's worth it. I like Graham too.

Schafer is out of options so we aren't sending him down. Ichiro doesn't even start for the Yankees because his body can't handle it. He's had a grand total of 19 at bats this season. Not exactly worth giving up anything for.

yeah, that kind of sucks. Hell, send BJ down. He deserves it.

He can't handle going 162 games, but he can handle giving you 130, which adds great value. He doesn't start for the yanks because he is behind Gardner, Beltran, and Ellsbury. It has nothing to do with his body.

Is it even possible to send BJ down? He's been turning the corner a bit the past few games and seems to be seeing the ball a little better. Hell he actually had 2 walks last night and he didn't even strike out!
