With the Saints, it was going to be win the job or get cut, no in between.

Says who? If we draft a Center, who wins out the starting job, and DLP has a better camp than Lelito, why would we cut DLP, especially on a minimum deal? I agree that there is a chance he could be cut if he signs with us (beat out by both a rookie, and Lelito), but I don't how you are so certain it is either start or cut for DLP.

Both situations are a risk, I just think with the Saints you have the chance to compete for a starting job and retest the market next year, getting the contract that he was expected to get this year. With the Bears, you're almost solidifying yourself for another minimum deal next year. Even if did get cut with us, there's always a chance another team needs a Center around the time of Training Camp, and he would get the same minimum deal. Just my .02.

Future potential. They've seen the max DLP can be and he has been regressing and will be 29.

The other guys still have a lot of untapped potenetial. Lelito has shown enough that if both he and DLP lose the starting job to the rookie that they'd keep Lelito over DLP(barring some dramatic skill decrease in Lelito or increase in DLP; unlikely but I will grant you possible).

And they'd give the rookie the nod over DLP unless he is worse than Tennant bad. Look how long we kept Tennant around on potential.

retest the market next year
They had quite a few teams that were and still are needy at C and none of them viewed him as a solution.

His regression have people backing away. Kromer, they guy he played best under, is the only one that sees true starting potential left in him.

We were going to replace him one way or another, this year or the next.
