Cricket on ESPN2 - few questions

First off, I really enjoy ESPN showing SPORTS on their channels, and not re runs of Sportscenter. That's how it was when ESPN 2 was first started.
Cricket is extremely hard to understand..maybe it's because I can't tell if there's a new batter or not (they all look the same with helmets on).. And the rules are really odd.
Anyone want to break it down in the simplist form?

Do they have to swing at every pitch?

No
They don't but they do
All hit balls are in play

After hitting the ball into play the batters run back and forth touching the line
That's why the scores are so high

Yeah I watched the last 45 minutes of the game
I realized singles were okay
I realized hits that made it to the wall are really good
Homeruns are big time too

You have the bowler who is like the pitcher in baseball. The batsman needs to defend his wicket. If the ball gets past the batsman and knocks down the wicket, the batsman is out. The batsman tries to hit the ball and if he has a chance runs to the other post (and back as many times as he feels he can safely). While the batsman is running, if the fielder knocks down the wicket while he is in between posts, he's out. If the batsman hits the ball to the wall on a roll, it's 4 runs, through the air like a homer, it's 6 runs. A batsman can also be out if his ball is caught on the fly. 20 overs is the equivalent to 120 balls in play. Once a batsman is out, he's done hitting for the match. They get 10 outs if that happens before the 20 overs is done.
I hope that makes sense.

Are outs recorded the same way?
And how many outs are you allowed?
Can you strike out?

No, but if the wicket behind them is knocked down by the "pitch" then he is out. So the batsman has to defend his wicket through swinging.
A good batsman can literally hit for hours. There's no "pitching around" a guy in cricket.

Can you talk about 20 overs a little more.
I'm not 100% clear on what it means....
I understand that's the 'new' format for the game (Twenty20) but what's an over?
