The novel of Neverwhere is an adaptation of the screenplay. One of those rare occasions where the movie (tv show) came first.

This is certainly doable. I would love to see this as well. Any of David Eddings's books in that universe or the Sparhawk universe would be good.
I would say Sword of Truth but ABC already absolutely butchered it with The Seeker. I couldn't make it past a few episodes. They even started really wrong by making Richard about 15 years too young. When they made Darken Rhal the brother of Richard instead of his dad, I said, "Nope" and never looked back.
