When I was a kid back in the early 80s, I used to love car shopping with my dad. He'd buy a new Caddy or Lincoln every year, and he paid cash for everything. He'd shoot for 28-35% off sticker, and things were different back then cause he always got it. He'd go to every freaking dealer in the city and play one against the other til he got his deal. He is still the same way. He was looking at a big Sea Ray motoryacht a few years back and told them he would pay $175K and not a penny more. He drove back and forth to Florida for over a year, and eventually they had to let the boat go at his price. I'd try to tell him that he had the cash, and that was an entire year he could have been enjoying that boat. All he cared about was getting HIS deal.
