Cypremort State Park targeting Specks & Reds

Has anyone ever fished the pier at the State Park? Is it worth the trip?
Would throwing a jig head or using live shrimp be best?
Is there someplace better to go around Vermillion Bay?
I would be bank fishing just trying to pull in some reds and trout if possible.
Thanks in advance.

You can fish the cove. After December it gets muddy though. and fresh.
best bet is hitting the banks with shrimp for reds. that or marsh island. Sept-Dec is the best time for VBay though.

Thanks again.
I'm new to the area and thought I'd give it the ole college try. I use to fishing Delacriox on my bro's boat. Now I'm stuck bank fishing since I moved to Lafe. Getting a yak in May.
I looked up reports on Isolunar and it had the water being unusually salty. Me and bud will be out there at 5:30am catching bait.
Got a few poppin corks
TKO Shrimp
Bull minnows(white&chartreuese)
3/8 oz jig heads(red head)
1/8 oz jig heads(lead)
One red head buck tail jig
A gold spoon
I'll post my results after. Hopefully it won't just be beer.

Dont listen to what these fools may tell you, the trout are in that bay much more often then people think. The river is coming up now so it will be shutting down.
While the fall is best for the vermy, it can be good in the summer if the water get clean. Anytime we catch a period of low river and not much east wind that water can clear and a trout or two can be caught.
When it on the bay gets lots of pressure, but the trout in their are unusually large. The best way to get people away from you is to sling a spook at their boat it usually works or you can just curse them like I do.
Nothing is worse than they kayaks in the cove they literally blanket the water and will paddle right up to you. Good luck, dont let Tcoon tell you he owns the bay better stand your ground SON
