Killing Ciaran is the best thing to do. If you give her the souls she gives you her weapons but if you kill her, you he her weapons plus her armor 
That's the only time you'll ever see her also. Might as well kill Chester too. And Gwyn is cake after the likes of kalameet. Parry , Riposte, rinse and repeat

Now that im at gwyn... im not ready for ds1 to end 
Considering starting a ng+ game or starting a new char...dex sorc build. Might do both.
