Go see a neurologist and have two nerve conduction studies done on your median nerve, 6-8 weeks apart. If the second test shows degeneration, then it's carpal tunnel. If not, then it may be just tendonitis or overuse syndrome. For now, warm up in the morning with heat pads or parrafin wax dip, and cool down at night with ice. If the ice helps a lot, it may not be nerve related at all.
