My M12 drill lasted 10+ years...and the only thing really wrong with it is the trigger switch or reverse forward neutral sitch...

I went with the 12v originally so if I got caught in a bind I could hot wire it to a car or deep cycle battery...and I used it that way many times...made an adapter out of an old worn out battery pack...

I now have the 18v lithium series though and love it...
