I think the Strong hiring might be a year to late. It doesnt help that Baylor has beaten Texas the past couple of years, OU showing dominance down the stretch into their bowl game. Texas Tech showing signs of life etc. 3 DT's just de-committed from UT today. Yes Strong might bring discipline but what he doesnt bring is recruiting knowledge in Texas. He mainly recruited from Florida and to sit here and say he will put up a fence around Texas is just dumb. There is to much talent in the state to keep everyone especially with national powerhouses in the SEC competing for recruits as well. Until another conference proves they can send more players to the league than the SEC just get ready for a recruiting battle for the best players between ATM/LSU/BAMA. Of course Texas will still get some kids because of their brand, but dont expect Strong to come in and make a splash. The lack of QB play and D line recruiting the past couple of seasons will put them back for a bit.

I think Strong is a good X's and O's coach, who seems to have NFL marked all over him. If he can just get the current players coached up UT will be much better. I think he will be at UT until Saban/Gruden/Cowher can't say no. Remember Red McCombs said something to the effect that money is no problem for UT football, and they had more money than the Vatican.
I still cringe that LSU had Mike Davis as a commit at one time, and flipped to UT. I can't imagine having Davis/Landry/Beckham all on the field at the same time with Mett this year. I'm not mad at Davis, he decided to stay home, but it sure didn't work out as well for him in Austin as it could have.
