Yeah no shite.... I dont think anybody is angry at Les Miles for making that much $$$... more so angry that Alleva gave him that raise when Miles bluffed that he was thinking of going to Arky crap came out. Like you said, if you can get that $$$, then props to you.

But, in any field, you pay the best in the business top $$$. Is Les the best in the business? Not by a long shot. Thats where I think people have the issue. Les the coach doesnt warrant top $$$.

first, Les is making about what he deserves, based on his results, when compared to his peers. He would be making closer to Saban money if he had another BCS in the bag. Second, an organization will typically pay top personnel closer to the value of the position vs. the value of the person. Yes it will swing up or down a little based on the person, but you want the attraction of the job to remain strong as well as the signal it sends regarding confidence in your leader in competitive situations. Coaches get extensions for recruiting purposes, not performance purposes...

Miles got the raise because he just had the best regular season in school history and brought home another SEC title
