It's a do or die for the staff in recruiting this year. If LSU can hang on and win 10 (which is what we expected) haul in a huge class and improve next year, the decline is a myth.

Every year the Rant sets up a do or die strawman like this, and Les finds a way to solve it. Then we set up a different strawman for the next year. The point of the decline is that if you can't get over the hump you will never be elite and you could be considered 'mediocre' or similar to program like Clemson or VT that every years wins some games but never has anything of substance to show for it.

Les will find a way to get out of this too, and get his patented 10 wins, then we will go back to half of the Rant bitching about his failures, and the other half singing his praises for the wins.

another problem we have is player retention. The bama juniors mostly come back for their senior years. We lose all of ours and most go undrafted. There is no sense of loyalty and wanting to stay and try to play for title. That puts us behind the 8 ball every year! having to break in so many new players each year!
