So were the ones under Paul Dietzel - what's your point?

Do I really need to explain this to you?

When Paul Dietzel was the coach very few (if any) college football games were televised.

By the time Curly Hallman was coaching there more televised but mostly during the day. The good teams were selected to play on TV during the day. The not so good teams were not televised and played at their normal times which for LSU was at night.

OK - here come's the hard part.

Because LSU sucked they were not on TV and got to play their games at night.

Once things started getting better, more games were scheduled for day time broadcast.

Understand now or do I need to try again?

The early (Jeff Pilot) game rarely had worthwhile games - only 'big' game was 2:30 CBS.

ESPN has a ton of SEC night games every Saturday - I really don't understand how playing at night on ESPN means you are a bad team, yet that is what folks scream when you suggest LSU games should be at night.
