The problem with this analysis is that they did beat you with special tams. That gave them a two score lead for most of the second half. If the game had been tied, Stanford doesn't go into a shell offensively. Shaw called that game not to lose. In the end he didn't pay for it.

I can give you the conservative play calling for maybe the last 8 minutes or so of the 4th quarter, but they aren't closing up shop on the offensive side of the ball for "most of the second half". And yes, they did beat us on special teams and very badly. That was the major reason that we lost the game.
