In all fairness Colston wasn't in national spotlight every couple weeks much less EVER.

Too lazy (and busy) to look it up, but many had Sam Montgomery as an early to mid-first rounder at this time last year. Instead he fell big time (and many thought he was overrated even with the 3rd round spot). As late as February, Sports Illustrated had him going as the 25th pick:

So, these things are written by non-scouts, to pass the time and to get "clicks" for advertising dollars. I do not see a single first round pick on our current team in 2014. Mett and Landry could move up. But Freak is not. Loston may go undrafted.
