I feel the same way as a lot of your thoughts.
Another observation on Welter, I think he is decent at reading a play and getting to the hole.
The problem is he hovers above the hole because he doesn't have the speed to get there and crash the hole, so he's making tackles 4 or 5 yards downfield instead of at the LOS or behind it. He also isn't as sure a tackler obviously, which makes it even worse.
That's what Minter brought to the table and what we're missing at MLB imo.

One of our problems is that I am afraid he is the best we have for now, after seeing the other guy running the wrong way and filling the wrong gap. Others may have more physical ability but are not yet ready to react as quickly as necessary, which is something that should come with experience (although some folks never seem to have that light come on).
