I watched the second half, and I need to see it again from the beginning.
It was trying to make several strong points which may or may not be true.
First and foremost it was making the point that Hitchcock was a creepy a-hole with a creepy obsession for all of his leading ladies.
Secondly, it was making the point that his wife was a collaborator on all of his movies and was AT LEAST half responsible for his success.
The movie also portrayed Hitchcock as practically demented in his obsession for the macabre. They had a character which was like his inner dark side which he would converse with.
It seemed to be a hit piece on Hitchcock. It acknowledged his greatness as a director but only begrudgingly, and due mostly to his own creepy inner demons and the marvelous saintly contributions of his beleaguered but brilliant wife.
