Welcome to the forum. You got to see one of the great moments in Tiger football history. I had to be content with listening to John Ferguson's call on the radio.
Unfortuately, I guess only us old farts remember and appreciate Coach Dietzel's contributions.

I was 12 years old and went with my Family to the Sugar Bowl in 1959. We had a great time and remember all the talk and hype leading up to the game with Clemson. That was my first LSU Game!Get well Coach and you put LSU on the Football Map with the NC in 1958 and LSU still basically wearing your Uniforms that you designed!!

CO, I recall fondly having the 1958 football "yearbook" that detailed every game. I remember staying up late at night, under the sheets with a flashlight, reading about each and very game.
As was stated here before, Coach Dietzel brought recruiting, team substitution and pride to LSU.
We all love Billy Cannon and Warren Rabb and Johnny Robinson, but we also had so many more. I used to know all of the names.
But great men have built it. Not in a straight line. Great things are not easy. The greatest things we will ever do will be the hardest.
Keep Going Tigers.
