The old "Aluminum vs Fiberglass" debate

I have to get a boat soon. Tired of mooching and I want my own. I would like somewhere between an 18'-20' CC. I like fishing Big Lake, Vermilion Bay, Henderson, Lake Larto and Toledo Bend. Don't have room in the garage for anything bigger than a 20'. I like the Xpress Bay Boats, Nautic Star, Key West and Frontier. Looking for input.

20 Twin Vee Fiberglass
Like that it has 2 70hp motors. Has a soft ride. Draft 10" of water and on good days i can fish for trout and snapper out of venice.

don't have to worry like you would in a glass boat of banging hard into a dock like some of my friends have to.

Kevlar bottom is the only bottom i can think of where u dont worry about bumping into stuff. Still cant run up on stumps in aluminun and not worry right?
Posted on 7/4/13 at 7:38 pm to rattlebucket
no but i'm talking about concrete weirs, boat docks, ect.

So am i reading right. Alum=tight water with stobs. Fiberglass=open water,
Posted on 7/4/13 at 7:53 pm to LSUlefty
in most cases alum boat is easier and cheaper to repair

my family has a camp in TB and the stumps can be a problem. I live in Lafayette and like to fish inshore as well.
Posted on 7/4/13 at 7:56 pm to LSUlefty
Well I know that a lot of people fish TB with fiberglass boats. I would just worry but that's just me.
