So according to Maineiri when the count went to 2-0 something in the game altered. Was the score still the same? Was it still the bottom of the ninth? What changed? Nothing changed.
Its the bottom of the ninth of a one run game. Everyone, with the possible exception of Maineiri knew UCLA was guarding the lines. Unbelieveable he would even say such a thing.
I've long said CPM is an outstanding coach between games but is horrible as a bench coach as things are unfurling.

They must have been playing on the line

where did he say he didn't think they would be guarding the lines? He just said he think the 3rd baseman was playing the line. I doubt he was watched much replay of the game by the time he gave his post game comments. Damn I feel bad for our coaches that have to deal with you knuckleheads. I get it you love the team and want to see them succeed but it's not an exact science. You play the odds. Sometimes it works. And sometimes one of the best fielding teams in the nation has a few errors giving up unearned runs to cost you the game. Sometimes a .330 batter who hasn't sacrificed bunted once all year is better off swinging away on a 2-0 count. And sometimes he hits a screamer directly at the drawn in infielder to get a double play on a hit and run.

Everything can change when the count changes.

No one gives a shite whether or not you think PM is a good bench coach.
