Lebron could score 40 every night, but then he wouldn't be nearly as efficient of a player as he is now. Do you ever wonder why Carmelo Anthony can't get his team over the hump? Scoring a lot doesn't always equal team success.
Stan Van Gundy gave a great stat about that on the radio last week.
Melo averages 1 assist per 9 shot attempts in the regular season. For comparison, Kobe is 1 per 5 and Jordan was about 1 for 5 back in the day. This year during the playoffs, Melo was 1 assist per 18 attempts. Van Gundy said he could not find any player with a minimum number of attempts that was anywhere close to that. Someone, from back in the 60's or 70's was 1 per 9 in the playoffs and that was the closest he could find.
