Seems to me there are three options:
1) When someone wants a player that is not in the database, they email the league and request the player with the associated drop. Everyone has the same opportunity to do this.
2) We all sit around our computers constantly hitting refresh until the player in question becomes available. Those of us with lives have less of an opportunity to do this.
3) Start using FAAB.

I am fine with 1. But that person should be obligated to hold a roster spot open and must wait until the prospect is in the player pool to complete the transaction.
I don't see this situation occurring much at all. but it'd confusing if next week you want to "drop" the guy and use the open roster spot.
