How is he the first? The season is over and his contract has expired. If some team signs him for next year then he would be the first.

He is the first active athlete to come out of the closet. Others have, but have been retired.

If this guy is "so bold & brave", then why didn't he "come -out" during the regular season? He is currently Inactive. What if a team doesn't pick him up?
