Management Trainee Programs - Advice/Experience?

Has anyone personally gone through or know someone who has gone through a management trainee/rotational program? For example, Enterprise Rental Car, Sherwin Williams, JC Penney etc.
Wondering if you can truly rise through the ranks into a decent management position or are you just used up as cheap labor until you burn out? I know the starting money isn't great ($30k-$35k), but if you could climb the ladder quickly then it may be worth it.
I've heard good things and bad things, looking for a little realistic middle ground.
Thoughts/advice appreciated for a young guy looking to make his place in the working world.

run quickly from enterprise. 2 years of my life I wouldn't trade, but I'd never go back or wish that shithole on anyone either.

Anything in particular that makes Enterprise shitty? Pay, structure, work, customers?

google it and go to glassdoor. The hours suck, the customers are all bitchy assholes. If aren't a corporate cheerleader and brown nose the shite out of managment, then you're not a team player and managment looks down on you for promotions etc.
They make the pay sound attractive for someone with avergae grades and a degree, but $30-$35k a year for as many hours you put in boils down to really about $20k a year.
Oh yeah, and don't dare try and skip an after work happy hour or try and have a family.

Not sure how I forgot this one! Yeah, if you do decide to go to work there, definitely don't buy expensive clothing. You'll regret it big time and be replacing it often.

I've been with enterprise for 11 years. Been very good to me and my family.

Did you start as a management trainee? If so, what made you stick it out through the BS that other posters are saying Enterprise puts you through? Other insight is helpful as well, thanks!

Young, single... Just out of college. Not much else to do but work. Understood how to play the game early. Knew what I had to do to get promoted. Liked the fact I was in control of myself. True, some days suck but overall it has been a fun ride. $150k+ ain't bad either !

Thanks for the advice. What do you mean by knowing how to play the game? Is it a lot of arse kissing like other posters have indicated?
