When I bet on a RB's yardage, yes its betting on football. When two players have a bet, between the two of them, on who will have more sacks is not betting on football. Now, if he would have bet online that he would have Under 1.5 sacks in a certain game and won, then yes that would be betting on football.
Pete Rose only bet on the Reds to win and was banned for life. And conspiracy theorists would have you believe it got Michael Jordan suspended from the NBA for a year. It's a slippery slope. And it's a red flag. How big of one depends on each team, I suppose. But I wouldn't like it. They aren't betting dinner, they're betting several hundred dollars with no income. What will they do when they have millions?

While I think that is dumb that's a different story. If Pete Rose was just betting a teammate he would have more hits he would have never been banned. It's an entirely different level when you have a bookie involved.
