Name me a school that does have a lot of MLB stars. The majority of the Top 50 players in MLB never stepped foot on a college campus.
ETA: Aaron Hill is a very good player and Brian Wilson is an all-star.

But it's not as big of a majority as people think.
Every year, roughly half of the Top 50 draft picks come from college.
McDonald, Sirotka, Leskanic, Byrd, Springer, Ogea, were all very good MLB pitchers who played for LSU within a very short period of time. It's hard for one school to hog all that talent at once anymore with all the great college programs out there now, but still, Ranaudo, Gausman, Eades, Nola, etc., are all pretty damn good too.
What LSU has been missing lately is the Joey Belle or Lyle Mouton or Todd Walker type of hitter, although Mahtook was certainly a step in that direction. We'll have to see how JaCoby Jones & Alex Bregman pan out.

It might even be more.
the top 50 batters who were drafted out of college:
1B Albert Pujols - Maple Woods CC
OF Ryan Braun - Miami
C Buster Posey - Florida State
3B Evan Longoria - LBSU
SS Troy Tulowitzki - LBSU
OF Jacoby Ellsbury - Oregon State
2B Dustin Pedroia - Arizona State
2B Ian Kinsler - Mizzouri
OF Curtis Granderson - UIC
3B Ryan Zimmerman - Virginia
1B Paul Goldschmitd - Texas State
1B Allen Craig - California
1B Mark Teixeira - Georgia Tech
2B Jason Kipnis - Arizona State
3B Chase Headley - Tennessee
2B Aaron Hill - LSU
2B Ben Zobrist - Dallas Baptist
That isn't a whole lot of anything right there
